Edinson Cavani & Marco Reus Among Five Players Liverpool Could Still Sign After Manager Admits He Is Still Looking to Buy

Those that remain on the radar for the Reds.

Following Liverpool’s opening day 2-1 Premier League victory over Southampton manager Brendan Rodgers admitted that the club could still make more signings this summer.

“There is maybe an area or two we will look at, but if the right players become available then we will look to do something,” Rodgers told talkSPORT.

“We’ve got another few weeks left yet, so we’ll see what’s available.”

This is despite having already spent £101m on eight new players and here are the five stars that remain on the Reds’ shortlist ahead of the September 1 deadline day.

Wilfried Bony

The Swansea City striker remains a firm target for the Merseyside outfit despite the fact Garry Monk has insisted the Ivory Coast international will not be leaving the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans secured something of a shock victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, but despite the good feeling about the club the lure of Champions League football is likely to be too great for Bony.

Edinson Cavani

The future of this Uruguay international at Paris Saint-Germain has been in doubt for some despite having only been with the Ligue 1 champions for a year following a club record £52.7m move from Napoli.

Cavani could be a decent replacement for fellow countryman Luis Suarez and would serve as the marquee signing that the club are seeking to appease the fans.

Samuel Eto’o

This would certainly be a cheaper option for Rodgers with the forward still not having found a new club since leaving Chelsea at the end of the last campaign.

Eto’o scored just 12 goals in 35 appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge, but the 33-year-old does have bags of experience at the very top level.

Radamel Falcao

Another giant name from the French top tier now as Falcao also became a club record signing in 2013 upon completing his £50m move from Atletico Madrid to AS Monaco.

The Colombia international has grown disillusioned in the Principality though and although would prefer a switch to Real Madrid, Anfield still remains an option.

Marco Reus

Finally the only player on this shortlist not to be an out-and-out striker, but Reus certainly possesses great flair in attack and is perhaps the most similar figure to Suarez.

The future of the Germany international with Borussia Dortmund has been cast into doubt since their great rivals Bayern Munich revealed the 25-year-old has a release clause of just £19.8m.
