The transfer window has just a couple of days left to run, but there are still several big-name players seeking a move to the Premier League. Here are five:

5) Mattia Destro (Roma)

Chelsea were linked with the striker in a proposed switch involving Fernando Torres. However, Torres instead joined AC Milan, and North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are the remaining contenders for the players signature. Conversely, Sky Sports reports suggest that the Blues are still interested in the 23-year-old Italian.

4) Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Borussia Dortmund)

The Greek international has been linked with Arsenal by the Daily Mail, after the Gunners missed out on the defender’s countryman Kostas Manolas. Arsenal are willing to pay as much as £12m for the Borussia Dortmund star, as they continue to seek a replacement for the departed Thomas Vermaelen.

3) Ezequiel Lavezzi (PSG)

The Daily Express are claiming that Arsenal will turn to the former Liverpool target as they seek another forward option to fill the void left by Olivier Giroud’s injury. The Argentine’s contract talks with PSG have stalled, and the player is believed to be available if a team matches the French side’s asking price.

2) Edinson Cavani (PSG)

Arsenal are the latest team to be linked with the Uruguayan forward, who was previously targeted by Liverpool among others. The Metro believes that the Gunners are desperate to sign the PSG striker, and will make room for his arrival by selling Joel Campbell to Benfica.

1) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)

One of the most wanted players in Europe. The Colombian striker has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea – who are both on the hunt for a new striker following Giroud’s injury, and the sale of Fernando Torres respectively. Manchester City are the latest team to be linked with the Monaco star, but all three Premier League teams face competition from Real Madrid. TalkSport reported the latest.
