Tottenham 0-3 Liverpool: Spurs Player Ratings From Lacklustre Home Display

Emmanuel Adebayor the only player to earn semi-significant praise as Pochettino suffers first defeat as Spurs head coach.

Liverpool continued their recent dominance over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday by thrashing Spurs 3-0 at White Hart Lane.

Raheem Sterling gave the Reds a deserved half-time lead, before a Steven Gerrard penalty and a brilliant solo goal from Alberto Moreno completed the scoring.

Spurs have now lost their last three games against Liverpool by an aggregate score of 12-0.

Here’s how Mauricio Pochettino’s men rated this weekend:

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris – 6/10

Made excellent saves to deny Mario Balotelli and Daniel Sturridge, but the Frenchman was not on top form, giving the ball away too frequently with poor distribution.

Right-back: Eric Dier: – 4/10

Stupidly put his hands on Joe Allen, giving away a needless penalty. Didn’t ever look composed.

Left-back: Danny Rose: – 5/10

Showed glimpses of attacking threat, but never really produced anything of note. Got caught too far up the pitch for Liverpool’s opening goal. Went off late on with a thigh injury.

Centre-back: Younes Kaboul – 4/10

Looked nervous throughout. Not the sort of display a manager would want from his captain.

Centre-back: Jan Vertonghen – 6/10

Look much more reliable than Kaboul, but not even Vertonghen can keep Liverpool at bay by himself.

Midfield: Etienne Capoue – 5/10

Constantly wanted more time on the ball than Liverpool were prepared to afford him. Unlikely that he will still be in Tottenham’s first XI once the likes of Sandro, Paulinho and Mousa Dembele reach peak fitness.

Midfield: Nabil Bentaleb – 6/10

Neat and tidy, but struggled to penetrate the red wall in front of him.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen – 5/10

Way below his normal high standards. Was understandably removed on the hour mark, but his replacement – Andros Townsend – was not much of an improvement.

Attacking midfield: Erik Lamela – 4/10

No spark. His touch was poor and he created nothing.

Attacking midfield: Nacer Chadli – 6/10

Much better than Eriksen and Lamela today. However, Chadli wasted a great chance to equalise just before half time, smashing his shot straight at Simon Mignolet after latching onto an Emmanuel Adebayor flick-on. At least he got in the box, though.

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor – 7/10

Worked hard and looked lively, but got very little service from his teammates.

Subs:

Andros Townsend – 4/10 – Gave the ball away immediately after coming on – a mistake which led to Liverpool scoring their third goal.

Mousa Dembele – 6/10 – Injected a bit more energy into Tottenham’s midfield, but the game was already dead as a contest by the time he replaced Bentaleb.

Ben Davies – 6/10 – Did OK during an uneventful 20-minute appearance on his Premier League debut for Spurs.
