The north London side invested over £80m in their squad over the summer and Arsene Wenger is keen to tie down two of his first team set-up to new deals.

Arsenal Latest: Arsenal could sign Real Madrid pair on free transfer deals next summer

27 year old French international Giroud will be offered a deal that would see his contract run until 2018, a reward perhaps to convince the former Montpellier man that he is still very much part of the club’s starting eleven plans despite the summer arrival of both Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.

Veteran skipper Arteta’s current contract comes to an end next summer and Wenger hopes the former Everton man pens a new deal that will hand the 32 year old a 12 month extension.

Crocked attacker Theo Walcott, who has been out injured with an anterior cruciate ligament injury since January, hopes to return in time to take part in the north London derby against Tottenham in late September.
