Top 10 Playmakers In The Premier League Including Cesc Fabregas, Two Manchester United Stars And Arsenal Club Record Signing

The number ten is the most creative player on the pitch.

Ten years ago, the Premier League was full of top quality central strikers with the likes of Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry. These were players who had one job and that was to score goals.

Nowadays, the central striker is no longer the focal point of the team. That is now the number 10 or playmaker. These are now the most important players on the pitch because they can control a game and are normally the most gifted individuals in a side.

The Premier League has several top quality playmakers this season so take a look at the top ten.

10. Christian Eriksen

The Tpttenham Hotspur midfielder may be small but he has the ability to unlock a defence with one pass. At 22, the Dane has time to develop into one of the world’s best playmakers.

9. Ross Barkley

The Everton youngster has a cool head on young shoulders and has already shown that he can mix it with the best. Barkley seems to have really excelled since Roberto Martinez took over at the Toffees.

8. Oscar

The Chelsea number 10 is another younger player who could really develop into something special. He could be the fulcrum of Jose Mourinho’s side for many years.

7. Juan Mata

Two years ago, Mata was probably at the top of this list. A run of poor form has meant he hasn’t been at the top of game for awhile but if he gets plenty of game time at Manchester United, expect him to shine again.

6. Raheem Sterling

Still only a teenager, Liverpool’s Sterling could light up the Premier League for the next decade. He appears to be thriving in his new central position where he can run at centre backs with his pace and skill.

5. Mesut Ozil

The German was in excellent form during the first half of last season. Unfortunately, that good form tailed off after Christmas however, he looks to have got his old swagger back in the first games of Arsenal’s 2014/2015 campaign.

4. Yaya Toure

The Manchester City man is so versatile he can play almost anywhere. However, his best position is as a number ten as then he can run at defences with pace and power, creating opportunities for both himself and his team mates.

3. Wayne Rooney

Although he hasn’t shown his best form for a while, Rooney is one of the finest playmakers in the Premier League. He has now been given the captaincy at United, which may spark him into form.

2. Cesc Fabregas

The Spaniard is another highly versatile player but like Yaya Toure, he is best when playing in the number ten role. Here, he can use his vision and excellent passing ability to create chances for his team mates while he also has an excellent goal scoring record.

1. David Silva

Silva can play all over the midfield but he is at his most dangerous when playing centrally. His quick feet are good enough to outwit even the best defenders while he has a passing range that is second to none.
