Marouane Fellaini

Still reeled out with an ankle problem, the Belgian international will be out until mid-October whilst he recovers. The injury also prevented Louis Van Gaal from selling the former Everton man during the transfer window.

Ashley Young

The flying winger took a knock this week in training and will sit this one out, though it is not thought that he will be sidelined for long and can resume trying to win his place back as early as next week.

Phil Jones

The club’s player of the month for August will have Van Gaal sweating after he picked up a hamstring injury whilst on international duty earlier this week. Currently being assessed, the news should become clearer after the weekend.

Michael Carrick

Having undergone surgery on his ankle over the summer he is now said to be closing in on a return to action, though the QPR clash will come just a little too soon.

Rafael

The Brazilian suffered a groin strain recently, and is due back next week, but like Carrick, this game has come just a little too soon for him.

James Wilson

The young forward will also miss out, though he is currently a fourth choice.

Jesse Lingard

No return date has been placed on the wingers return as he sits out with a knee injury.
