Ten stars who could fill Ronaldo’s boots.10) Mario Gotze (Bayern Munich)

Bayern Munich’s young gem, Mario Gotze has long been regarded as one of the most promising attacking midfield players in the world, and one who could certainly grow into the Cristiano Ronaldo role in the future, though he still has some work to do on being more consistent in front of goal. The 22-year-old recently admitted he’d be tempted to move abroad, and Real Madrid will surely be among those keeping an eye on him.

9) Oscar (Chelsea)

Although not exactly the same type of player, Oscar has been another linked with a move to Real Madrid and has the immense potential to take his game to a new level in the right team, with the Spanish giants perhaps better suited to his attacking style of play.

8) Adnan Januzaj (Manchester United)

Although Adnan Januzaj is not close to world class status just yet, he remains one of the best young players in the world and could very much be the next Ronaldo if he can find his feet at United and establish himself as a more consistent performer and goalscorer. The raw ability is certainly there, and top European clubs have already looked at him in the past.

7) Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)

Although he only just moved to Real’s loca rivals Atletico Madrid, Antoine Griezmann could be a player worth considering if Ronaldo does leave, with the Frenchman showing a similar ability to the Portuguese star in getting goals from the flanks for his previous club Real Sociedad. A player with his best years ahead of him, Griezmann has the attributes to be a Bernabeu star as well.

6) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

English football’s bright young hope, Raheem Sterling has already come up on Real Madrid’s radar after his stunning displays for Liverpool last season. Still only 19, Sterling’s pace and goal-getting ability could make him a great Ronald0-like player in the near future, and he will surely be linked with Real again soon if he keeps up these performances.

5) Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich)

A former Real Madrid player, Arjen Robben’s game has certainly taken off and reached a new level in the last few years with Bayern Munich, and he could be an excellent short-term replacement for Ronaldo if he did decide to embark upon a second spell in the Spanish capital.

4) Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)

A superb goalscorer, Thomas Muller could be another Bayern Munich star worth considering for Real Madrid. The German World Cup winner is a real big game player and has that Ronaldo-like ability to pop up all over the pitch to cause defenders nightmares. Having won all there is to win at Bayern, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he considered a new challenge at some point in the future.

3) Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)

One of Europe’s most in-form wingers, Fiorentina star Juan Cuadrado could see Real Madrid join the long list of clubs chasing him if Ronaldo leaves the Bernabeu. The Colombian international could link up well with his fellow countryman James Rodriguez in Spain, and has all the pace and ability to fill Ronaldo’s boots in the team.

2) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

A world class attacking midfielder, it is something of a miracle that Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus did not move on to a bigger club this summer after being continually linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. Real Madrid have also looked at him, and would no doubt make him one of their top targets to replace Ronaldo if he made the move to United or Chelsea.

1) Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Supposedly the number one name on Real Madrid’s list of Ronaldo replacements, Eden Hazard makes sense as a like-for-like player to fill the Portuguese star’s role in the Madrid team. The Belgian international has been absolutely superb since moving to the Premier League, and has all the hallmarks of the classic ‘Galactico’ signing.
