How will the Blues line up against Schalke.

Chelsea take on Schalke in the opening group game of a new Champions League campaign. The Blues have been in relentless form in the Premier League, winning all four of their league matches convincingly.

That should make Jose Mourinho’s side favourites for the clash against the German club.

This is how we reckon the Blues will lineup on Wednesday evening.

GK. Thibaut Courtois

The Belgian has just replaced Petr Cech as the Blues number one goalkeeper and should keep his place in their starting line-up for sometime.

RB. Branislav Ivanovic

The right-back has been a stalwart in Jose Mourinho’s side and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

LB. Cesar Azpilicueta

His excellent form is still keeping new signing Filipe Luis on the bench. Azpilicueta has become one of the best full-backs in England under Jose Mourinho.

CB. Gary Cahill

The England international has formed a reliable partnership with John Terry at the back. They are probably one of the best centre-back pairings in Europe at the moment.

CB. John Terry

The former England captain has always been one Mourinho’s main men and that is set to continue this season.

CM. Nemanja Matic

The Serbian midfielder has been a wonderful signing for Chelsea and has started the season in great form. He protects the back four excellently and allows the Blues more creative players to focus on attacking.

CM. Cesc Fabregas

The Spaniard has been one of the stars of the season so far. His vision and range of passing has meant Chelsea have been able to create plenty of chances which the likes of Diego Costa have thrived on.

RW. Willian

The Brazilian winger has the skill and pace to cause even the best back-lines a problem and will almost certainly be let loose on Schalke.

LW. Eden Hazard

Hazard is fast developing into one of the best playmakers in the world. Under Mourinho, the 23-year-old has developed a work rate alongside his skill that has made him indispensable for the Blues.

AMC. Oscar

Oscar is another creative player who is able to unlock even the meanest defence. Mourinho gave the Brazilian his opportunity over Juan Mata last year and he hasn’t looked back since.

ST. Diego Costa

The strong front man was exactly what Chelsea needed after a season where Mourinho’s men struggled to find the net. So far this season, Costa has scored seven goals in four games. Expect to him to add to that against Schalke.
