Having lost Xabi Alonso to Bayern Munich in the summer, Real are in need of reinforcements in the defensive midfield position, with Toni Kroos currently playing in an unfamiliar deep role for the Spanish giants, and unable to find his best form as a more advanced playmaker.

However, Real Madrid’s plans could prove a blow to one of two Premier League clubs, with a key member of the Chelsea squad in their sights, as well as one of Manchester United’s top transfer targets.

1) Ramires (Chelsea)

A tough-tackling midfielder, Brazilian star Ramires remains a favourite of Carlo Ancelotti after his spell in charge at Stamford Bridge. With Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas now ahead of Ramires in the Chelsea pecking order, it may be that he is available for the right price, and Real are expected to come calling. It has been suggested that the Blues would then look to use the money brought in from his transfer to sign highly-rated Everton youngster Ross Barkley as a long-term replacement in midfield.

2) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Another player wanted by Real could be Juventus star Arturo Vidal, who has long been linked with a move to Manchester United. Possibly available for around £47m, the Chilean international would be a superb addition to the squad at the Bernabeu, fitting in well with the club’s Galactico policy, which brought the likes of Kroos and James Rodriguez to the club this summer.
