GK – Thibaut Courtois – 86

Returned to Stamford Bridge this summer after three years of success on-loan at Atletico Madrid and has already usurped Petr Cech as Jose Mourinho’s No.1.

RB – Branislav Ivanovic – 81

Has been one of the most consistent players in the Blues team for some time now and unlike so many modern full-backs manages to balance defence and attack perfectly.

CB – Gary Cahill – 81

Has proven over the past 12 months that he is now a top-class centre-back and Cahill made up one half of the best central defensive partnership in the division last term.

CB – John Terry – 83

It’s the captain now and although Terry is 33-years-old his sharpness and stature has not waned and Mourinho could well have a problem when he eventually has to replace this Englishman.

LB – Filipe Luis – 82

Completing the back line is a £15.8m new signing who has barely been given a chance in the starting XI as yet due to the continued presence of Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back.

CM – Cesc Fabregas – 84

Another new signing now as after three years with boyhood club FC Barcelona this former Arsenal skipper returned to English football over the summer after completing a £30m switch from the Nou Camp.

CM – Nemanja Matic – 82

Partnering Fabregas in central midfield is a player who returned to the club after two-and-a-half years with Benfica in January and looks to be worth every penny of his £20.75m transfer fee.

RM – Willian – 82

Mourinho has generally used Andre Schurrle on the right side of his attacking midfield three after the German’s heroics at the 2014 World Cup, but according to FIFA this Brazil international is the slightly better choice.

CAM – Oscar – 84

When the Portuguese coach returned to the club in 2013 he declared this South American was his preferred No.10 and later sold Juan Mata as a result, but the 23-year-old still has much to prove to justify this claim.

LM – Eden Hazard – 88

Along with Manchester United duo Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie this Belgian has the best rating from England on the game and his performances over the past two years would suggest that is probably correct.

ST – Diego Costa – 86

Along with Filipe this Spaniard was acquired from Atleti this summer for £32m and has impressed already with seven league goals for his new club.
