Here are 20 players who should consider moves in January:
20) Lucas Evangelista – Udinese
Currently a bench warmer due to Udinese’s fantastic start to the campaign, the Brazilian doesn’t look like getting a game anytime soon. He should almost certainly look for a loan move in January.
19) Jose Pozo – Manchester City
One of the brightest young stars at Manchester City, Pozo is extremely unlikely to break into the first team with their star studded lineup. A loan could see him really flourish this season.
18) Antonio Sanabria – Roma
After his move from Barcelona Sanabria is struggling to get a game with Roma. He seemed to have the ability when he arrived, so perhaps a loan move in January would suit him best.
17) Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – Bayern Munich
The young central midfielder is seriously down the pecking order at Bayern, and the simple fact may be that he is not good enough for the German champions. He needs to move on or be moved on.
16) Zakaria Bakkali – PSV Eindhoven
PSV are known for nurturing talent, but Bakkali seems to be wasted with the Dutch side at the moment. At 18 he can’t expect too much, but he has the talent to be playing first team football.
15) Mateusz Klich – Wolfsburg
Unable to get any game time for Wolfsburg, Klich had a solid last season and is bizarrely being frozen out. He should look elsewhere in the hope of being appreciated a little more.
14) Emmanuel Mayuka – Southampton
With the players in front of him Mayuka is never going to break into the Saints’ first team. He needs to be moved on quickly if he wants to do anything with his career.
13) Joel Campbell – Arsenal
After a fantastic World Cup in Rio Arsenal fans had high hopes for Campbell. It seemed Arsene Wenger did too when the Frenchman finally brought him to England rather than securing another loan move for the Costa Rican. He has been on the outside looking in so far though, and if he can’t break into a threadbare Arsenal team at the moment then he may have to look elsewhere.
12) Koen Casteels – Hoffenheim
Despite being a talented shot-stopped, Casteels is currently third choice at his Bundesliga club. Injuries have halted his development somewhat, but the keeper is still young and if he can get the game time he could become a superb player in the future.
11)Artjoms Rudnevs – Hamburg
Despite his competition for the main striker role at Hamburg performing woefully this season, the Latvian forward still can’t get any real game time. He deserves better than that, so should be looking for a way out as soon as possible.
10) Joao Pereira – Valencia
The ageing right-back isn’t first choice at Valencia, so if he wants first team football then it’s clear he has to move on. Perhaps one last big money move or a step down to secure more game time.
9) Mohamed Salah – Chelsea
Salah looked to have made a bright start at Chelsea, but for one reason or another he has not been given the game time by Jose Mourinho. He may still have a future at the London club, but he should definitely look for a loan move in January.
8) Adrien Rabiot – PSG
It looked like Rabiot would be on the move this summer, with a host of top European clubs chasing his signature. A move never came to fruition though, and with the highly rated midfielder coming to the end of his contract in the summer PSG will probably cash in on him in January and allow him to leave.
7) Adel Taraabt – QPR
The Moroccan midfielder has looked superb at times in the Premier League and with AC Milan last season. His laziness and poor attitude seems to have left him destined to underachieve however. He still has the talent, but he won’t get anywhere at QPR
6) Cristian Rodriguez – Atletico Madrid
28-year-old Rodriguez has never really managed to break into the first team fold at Atletico, and if he wishes to get some playing time before it’s too late he needs to move on sooner rather than later.
5) Lucas Leiva – Liverpool
There were high hopes for Lucas when he first arrived at Liverpool, but he has been distinctly average for much of his time in the Premier League. He might want to consider his options as January approaches, as he doesn’t look to be getting too much first team football at the moment.
4) Sebastian Giovinco – Juventus
The pacey forward is undoubtedly talented, but he doesn’t seem to be the top class player that the Serie A champions require. Giovinco could easily stroll into a number of top teams, so with the number of players ahead of him at Juve he should probably start looking at his options.
3) Anderson – Manchester United
How Anderson hasn’t been moved on already is a mystery, with the midfielder failing to reach the expectations that came with his enormous price tag. He will get little to no game time this season, especially if the rumours are true that Louis van Gaal will continue his shopping spree in January.
2) Pedro – Barcelona
With the Catalan giants already full to the brim with attacking talent, Pedro will struggle for football this season once Luis Suarez is integrated. At 27-years-old he could still become a huge star elsewhere and should get out while his stock is still high.
1) Sami Khedira – Real Madrid
Khedira was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal or Chelsea this summer, but nothing materialised. Injured at the moment, he is unlikely to sign a new contract, and will therefore most likely move in January.
