Liverpool Injury News: Daniel Sturridge Among Duo To Miss Champions League Clash With Basel

The striker and Sakho haven’t travelled to Switzerland.

There is some bad news for Liverpool ahead of their Champions League clash with FC Basel as Daniel Sturridge and Mamadou Sakho have not travelled with the squad.

Sturridge is still to recover from the thigh injury that has seen the striker on the sidelines for the past few weeks, whilst Sakho is in manager Brendan Rodgers’ bad books.

The France international was left out of the squad for the Merseyside derby with Everton on Saturday and was pictured leaving Anfield before the match had even started.

Rodgers chose to play Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel in defence and Sakho was snapped by a supporter heading home and failing to support his teammates, something the 24-year-old later apologised for on Twitter.

The Reds take on Basel in their second match of the 2014/15 Champions League looking to maintain their solid start in the competition.

Rodgers’ side started their campaign with a home win over Ludogorets and with Real Madrid also in their group, another three points against the Swiss champions would be very welcome.
