Manchester United preparing £51m double swoop for Juventus duo Angelo Ogbonna and Arturo Vidal

Manager Louis van Gaal has been promised sizable funds for the January transfer window despite spending £151.7m on new talent over the summer.

Italian source Calcio Mercato reports that Juve pair Ogbonna and Vidal are on the Dutchman’s wishlist, with the former coming in to help shore up the defence and the latter adding some grit in midfield.

Van Gaal is looking to agree the deal in principle as soon as possible so that the duo will arrive at Old Trafford as soon as the window opens on January 1.

Neven Subotic targeted after snub from Borussia Dortmund teammate Mats Hummels

The Dortmund captain has revealed that he turned down a lucrative offer from the Red Devils as he wants to establish himself as a club legend at the Signal Iduna Park.

Defensive recruitment is still needed though and that is what has drawn the 13-time Premier League champions to Hummels’ teammate Subotic, according to the Mirror.

The 25-year-old is an established figure with plenty of top-class experience and could be just what is needed at the back at the Theatre of Dreams.

There were two bids for United target Juan Cuadrado over the summer

The agent of the Fiorentina midfielder, Alessandro Lucci, has revealed that two major European clubs made bids for his client over the summer.

However, neither were significant enough to open negotiations with La Viola and now Cuardado could sign a new deal in Florence instead.

“Last summer I had offers from two top European clubs for Cuadrado, but they were not sufficient to deal with Fiorentina. I am convinced that we will find an agreement (for the contract’s extension),” Lucci told tuttomercatoweb.

Former Red Devils boss David Moyes favourite to take Newcastle United job

The future of Alan Pardew at St James’ Park is in serious doubt as the Magpies languish at the bottom of the table having failed to win any of their opening six league games.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has said Pardew’s job is safe for the time being, but if results continue as they are it won’t be long until the Englishman is sacked.

If that does happen the Daily Star reports that Moyes is the favourite to take charge, with the 51-year-old having been out of a job since the Red Devils sacked him in April.

Club legends Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes slam Manchester City support

There were thousands of empty seats at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday as the Citizens drew 1-1 with AS Roma in their second Champions League clash of 2014/15.

United legends Ferdinand and Scholes didn’t waste any time getting on the back of their once great rivals, with the former taking to Twitter and the latter revealing his thoughts as a pundit on ITV.

“When you come here it just doesn’t have a European night feel to it. You go to Liverpool, you go to Old Trafford, you go to Chelsea, they have a special feeling for it,” the ex-midfielder was quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
