Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI Vs Southampton: Harry Kane To Get Deserved Premier League Start

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino faces his former club on Sunday afternoon as Southampton visit White Hart Lane. Here’s the team we reckon the ex Saints boss will select.

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris

The French number one was in sensational form in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Besiktas. Without him, Spurs could have been thrashed. There is no chance he won’t start today.

Right-back: Kyle Naughton

Naughton started last weekend’s North London Derby ahead of Eric Dier, who then got a midweek run-out in the Europa League. The former Sheffield United man did well at the Emirates and he is likely to continue as Tottenham’s Premier League right-back until Kyle Walker returns from injury.

Centre-back: Younes Kaboul

Tottenham’s skipper was incredible at Arsenal. He was rested on Thursday, so he will start for sure.

Centre-back: Jan Vertonghen

Kaboul is probably among the first names on Tottenham’s team sheet, but Pochettino appears to be uncertain as to who his best partner is. Vlad Chiriches is in awful form, so he will sit out, and, although Federico Fazio looks decent, Vertonghen should get the nod.

Left-back: Danny Rose

There seems to be very little between Rose and Ben Davies, but the Welshman played the full 90 minutes on Thursday, so fresh Rose is the obvious option.

Midfield: Mousa Dembele

Dembele missed the trip to Arsenal through injury, but he is fit again, which is great news for Spurs.

Midfield: Etienne Capoue

Capoue has started every Premier League game for Spurs so far this term and there is nothing to suggest that Pochettino plans to drop him.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen

The Danish playmaker was the star of the show in this fixture last season, scoring twice in a 3-2 win. Pochettino will be hoping for a repeat performance.

Attacking midfield: Harry Kane

Striker Kane impressed in the number 10 position on Thursday night. The young Englishman has scored three goals this season and he seems more willing to press high than many of the other attacking midfielders at Spurs. He deserves a Premier League start.

Attacking midfield: Nacer Chadli

Chadli is Tottenham’s leading goalscorer this season with four goals in five league games. The Belgian international is in fine form and Pochettino would be foolish to leave him out. Erik Lamela has flattered to deceive in recent weeks and the Argentinean could be more effective as an impact sub.

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor

Love him or loathe him, Adebayor is Tottenham’s main man up top. He scored twice against Southampton last season too.
