Liverpool Challenge Arsenal For In-Form Brazilian Goal Machine After Flying Start To The Season

Anderson Talisca on the radar of Premier League duo.

Liverpool and Arsenal are monitoring the progress of in-form Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca, report the Mirror, after he scored six goals in seven games for Benfica so far this season – the best start ever by one of the many Brazilian imports into the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Talisca’s stunning form is made all the more remarkable by the fact that he only scored four goals in more than 30 Brasileiro games for Bahia before earning a move to Benfica, but his form since arriving at the Estadio de Luz in Lisbon has been remarkable and caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The report suggests that both Liverpool and Arsenal had scouts at Benfica’s weekend thumping of Arouca, with Talisca finding the back of the net twice as his club continued their defence of last season’s league table with a 4-0 win over their struggling opponents.

Capable of playing either upfront or in the number ten role, Talisca has taken to European football like a duck to water and there are already hopes at Benfica that he can emulate some of the many South American imports of the country who have gone on to earn Portuguese clubs significant sums when they move on to the major leagues.
