If the Premier League Team of the Season was voted for today, we can’t imagine it would look very different from this…

GK) Hugo Lloris – Tottenham

Only Thibaut Courtois perhaps could argue that he’s a better Premier League goalkeeper than the Spurs man, who has proved his world-class ability from the opening weekend of the season. Tottenham haven’t been great – but he has.

DR) Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea

As brilliant defensively as he is punishing going forward. The Serb has scored twice already for this season’s title favourites and current table toppers.

DC) John Terry – Chelsea

Terry is 33-years-old now, but on current form, he’s the still the best centre-back in the country. As powerful in the air as he is effective a leader.

DC) Vincent Kompany – Manchester City

The brilliant Belgian is the only defender so far who’s managed to keep Diego Costa quiet! He also had an excellent game against Aston Villa, and will key to City’s chances of retaining the title.

DL) Ryan Bertrand – Southampton

Bertrand’s been shipped to Southampton on loan, but he’s done far better than the £27m man he replaced at St. Mary’s – Luke Shaw. Constant overlapping runs have been a feature of his performances.

DMC) Morgan Schneiderlin – Southampton

Southampton will be over the moon that they kept the French battler at the club, when all their over best players left over the summer. Schneiderlin has added goals to his game, too.

MC) Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea

Mesmerically creative, to put it simply. Fabregas has assisted seven goals already, the same number as the entire Arsenal team.

MC) Angel Di Maria – Man United

For £59.7m, fans expect a lot, but Di Maria has so far delivered. Three goals and three assists in the Premier League so far.

AMC) Raheem Sterling – Liverpool

The youngest player in this XI, Sterling has been Liverpool’s best player by some margin. Deployed either out wide or at no.10, the wonderkid’s been a constant threat in the final third – bagging three and making two himself.

FC) Sergio Aguero – Manchester City

The Argentine is too clinical for his own good. If he can stay fit, he could easily compete with Diego Costa for the Golden Boot. Five starts, five goals for Aguero.

FC) Diego Costa – Chelsea

Costa has scored a barbaric nine goals in seven matches since his £32m move from Atletico Madrid in the summer, and has probably been the top flight’s best player so far.
