The German international has been pushed down in the club’s pecking order this season after the arrival of attacking players such as Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, and is unhappy with being on the bench.

Podolski joined the Gunners in 2012 and immediately became a key player for Arsene Wenger’s side, though his second season was less impressive as a lengthy spell out through injury saw him lose his best fitness and form.

Juventus were linked with the former Bayern Munich man in the summer, and there is now bound to be even more speculation about his future as he confirms that he unhappy with his current situation at the Emirates Stadium.

“If my situation doesn’t change I’ll have to think about leaving in the winter,” he said.

“I don’t like sitting on the bench. I am 29 and I want to play. I will speak with the manager and then see what happens.”

The 29-year-old was part of the Arsenal team that won the FA Cup last season, and in total he has made 74 appearances for the north London club, scoring 28 goals.

Podolski also has 118 caps for the German national team, forming part of their squad that won the World Cup this summer.
