Victor Valdes’ move to Liverpool is in serious doubt, with the legendary Spanish goalkeeper rejecting the chance to prove his fitness with the Reds during an extended trial period, the Daily Mail reported.
Simon Mignolet has not played well recently, and most fans are adamant that a replacement needs to be signed.
If they can’t secure the former Barcelona man, they should consider on of these six alternatives…
5) Iker Casillas
The legendary Spaniard has not been playing well this season, and he faces a serious battle with new signing Keylor Navas for a starting spot. Liverpool have been heavily linked with his services if the Valdes deal falls through.
4) Petr Cech
The world-class stopper is available because he can’t get in Chelsea’s team , although it remains to be seen whether the Blues would be prepare to sell to Liverpool or not.
3) Kiko Casilla
The Spanish star is excelling for Espanyol, and is part of the national squad as a result. The Reds are monitoring his progress, and have been especially impressed with his commanding presence and leadership qualities.
2) Joe Hart
The Mirror linked England and Man City’s no.1 to Liverpool at the end of September. Hart is competing for a starting position with summer signing Willy Caballero, but we can’t really see the Sky Blues letting Hart leave any time son.

The Argentine excelled at the World Cup, but cannot currently get into Sampdoria’s side in Italy. He’d be cheaply and relatively available, but there would be questions on whether he’d actually be an improvement on Mignolet in the first place.
