Reports in the Daily Star claim that Arsenal will bid £8m for Celtic’s 23-year-old defender Virgil van Dijk, and the Dutch star could be the perfect back-up to their current centre-back options Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Calum Chambers.

Versatile forward player who could be a useful impact player, and a decent replacement for Lukas Podolski or Joel Campbell, should either or both ask to leave.

Much talked about teenager who has made his name at the French giants. Exciting midfield player who has great potential.
5) Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa)
Impressed at the World Cup last summer, and is now attracting interest from a handful of clubs as he heads towards the end of his contract.
4) James Milner (Manchester City)
Versatile midfield player who can offer cover in a number of positions, just what Arsenal need right now.
3) Nigel De Jong (AC Milan)
Premier League proven holding player who could fill the shoes of Mikel Arteta and add some much needed muscle to the Gunners line-up.
2) Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke)
Consistent goalscorer across Europe, who would be eager to prove himself in the Premier League. Could provide a useful option.
1) Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)
World class holding midfielder who Arsenal would love to bring to North London. A Champions League and World Cup winner who would offer plenty of experience and know how.
