Paddy McNair new contract.

GK – David de Gea

The goalkeeper continues to impress, saving a penalty and making a string of match-winning saves in the team’s last league outing against Everton.

RB – Rafael

The only natural right-back at Old Trafford the Brazilian is yet to truly impress and manager Louis van Gaal may be looking to sign a replacement in January.

CB – Phil Jones

Has finally returned from injury and van Gaal will be pleased as the England international is the only defender to have shown any consistency so far this season.

CB – Marcos Rojo

Partnering Jones will be this new £16m signing who has shown glimpses of his capabilities, but is yet to have proven to be the answer to replacing Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic.

LB – Luke Shaw

Van Gaal clearly has some concerns over this 19-year-old, but at £27m there is clearly faith being put in Shaw by United and he is clearly keen to impress.

CM – Angel di Maria

The club record £59.7m signing has been a revelation since his transfer from Real Madrid and if the club are to return to the Champions League this Argentine is sure to play a big part.

CM – Daley Blind

Quietly goes about his business in defensive midfield, but the Netherlands international is vital to the balance of a team that contains so many attacking stars.

CM – Ander Herrera

There are doubts over whether this midfielder will play or not as Herrera continues to recover from a rib injury, but the Spaniard would certainly be a useful addition in the middle.

CAM – Juan Mata

With captain Wayne Rooney still serving a ban for being sent off against West Ham United it will be a rare opportunity for this playmaker to impress van Gaal.

ST – Robin van Persie

It’s been a slow start to the campaign for this striker and van Persie will need to prove his worth quickly or face being replaced in the starting XI by Rooney when he returns.

ST – Radamel Falcao

Scored his first goal for the club in the win against the Toffees and everyone at Old Trafford will hope that is the start of the Colombian finding his form in the box.
