Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli Nightmare To Continue As Flop Striker Faces Police Investigation

Balotelli compounds frustration after incident on Thursday afternoon.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli is continuing to give his manager Brendan Rodgers a serious headache, with Goal reporting that the controversial Italian striker faces a police investigation after allegedly behaving in a threatening manner towards a woman who was taking photographs of him in Wythenshawe on Thursday afternoon.

Rodgers was forced to defend Balotelli during his press conference today after repeated questioning from journalists about the striker’s attitudes and performances, after he was hauled off at half-time during Tuesday evening’s Champions League battering at the hands of Real Madrid and swapped shirts with centre back Pepe whilst coming off the pitch.

Liverpool signed former Manchester City striker Balotelli in a £16 million deal from AC Milan this summer, ostensibly to replace Barcelona-bound forward Luis Suarez, but whilst the player’s unpredictable off-the-field behaviour has largely been absent, fans have grown increasingly infuriated with his poor displays on the pitch, with the Italian international’s only goal for the club so far coming in a Champions League tie against Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets Razgrad.

This latest incident will come as a blow to Rodgers as he looks to try and integrate Balotelli into the squad and the club – a situation that is being exacerbated by the continued injury absence of star striker Daniel Sturridge.
