The 29 year old greatly impressed at the World Cup finals before completing a summer move to La Liga side Malaga having spent the previous three years at Corsican side Ajaccio.

Despite having only moved to Malaga three months ago this source claims Ochoa is a target for the Merseyside outfit and mentions that a deal could be struck for as little as £3.9m.

Ochoa has failed to unseat first choice Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni, who has conceded just eight goals in 10 La Liga fixtures this term, and may well be considering his options.

Belgian goalie Simon Mignolet hasn’t been in the best of form during his 18 months as Liverpool’s first choice starter and it’s clear that back-up Brad Jones isn’t of sufficient quality to challenge the former Sunderland man and Ochoa may well be a better fit for the role.
