ESPN Names Best Player For Each Premier League Club As Di Maria And Sanchez Rank Alongside Surprising Liverpool Choice

Manchester United and City’s are fairly obvious…

ESPN have named their best player of the season for each Premier League team. The usual suspects are named  for Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.

However, there are also some surprises, with the choice for Liverpool especially odd…

Arsenal, Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean forward has been in great form since signing for the Gunners and fully deserves this. His 10 goals for  the club are a testament to how well he has been playing.

Aston Villa, Alan Hutton

Given a second chance this season after being left out in the cold by manager Paul Lambert in recent times, Hutton has responded with strong performances at right-back. A ray of hope in Villa’s dismal season.

Burnley, Scott Arfield

Despite taking until November for their first win of the season, Burnley haven’t looked as bad as their results would tell you. Arfield is one of a few of their players taking their chance in the Premier League.

Chelsea, Diego Costa

Costa has brought Chelsea everything they have been missing since Didier Drogba first left – an in-form striker. He’s beaten off competition from Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard for this accolade.

Crystal Palace, Julian Speroni

The Eagles have had to rely on spirit more than skill since arriving in the Premier League, but the Argentine keeper has plenty of ability. He has been an island of consistency in a sea of fluctuating performances at Selhurst Park.

Everton, Leighton Baines

The England left-back has been back to his best this season after failing to shine at the 2014 World Cup. Another who has been consistent in an inconsistent side.

Hull City, Mo Diame

Diame has been brilliant at the Tigers since arriving from West Ham United in the summer. He has four goals in eight appearances so far.

Leicester City, Leonardo Ulloa

The record signing started the season brilliantly, but has struggled recently. Without a single shot on target in his last five games, surely there is someone more worthy of the title of best player at the King Power stadium.

Liverpool, Adam Lallana

This one is truly bizarre, with Lallana neither appearing much or playing that well when he has. Although they may be struggling to find an in form player at Anfield at the moment, surely there’s someone better than the England international?

Manchester City, Sergio Aguero

The Argentine has been in great form so far this season, keeping City near the top of the table despite the rest of the team under-performing.

Manchester United, Angel di Maria

Looking exactly as good as you would expect considering the £59.7 million spent on him, di Maria has helped Louis van Gaal out with some great performances. The prize could still be given to David de Gea though, who has earned the club points with his goalkeeping.

Newcastle United, Jack Colback

Arriving from fierce rivals Sunderland in the summer, the ‘Ginger Pirlo’ as the fans have taken to calling him has been playing well. A key part of Alan Pardew’s comeback from the precipice.

Queens Park Rangers, Bobby Zamora

Zamora may have played well in his two starts, but at the same time he has still only made two starts. Surely Charlie Austin should be their best player with his goals?

Southampton, Dusan Tadic

Tadic is one of a number of brilliant signings made by the Saints in the summer. To be fair, almost any of their first team could be named their best player with the start the Saints have had.

Stoke, Victor Moses

Moses is enjoying a far more successful loan spell with Stoke than he did last season with Liverpool, where he struggled to get a game. He has helped Mark Hughes in his mission to improve how the Potters play their football.

Sunderland, Lee Catermole

Known better for his no nonsense tackles than his football, the midfielder is key to the Black Cats’ hopes of survival this season. He has even managed to curb the more dangerous aspects of his game so far.

Swansea City, Gylfi Sigurdsson

They say never go back, but it would seem no one told the Icelandic midfielder. With two goals and seven assists already, Sigurdsson has been playing brilliantly since his return to Wales. Wilfried Bony could also conceivably be seen as the Swans’ best player though.

Tottenham, Hugo Lloris

While Spurs have been out of form, the Frenchman has been his usual top class self. Similar to Liverpool, with it being hard to pick a best player when so many are playing poorly.

West Bromwich Albion, Saido Berahino

Seven league goals already this season, Berahino has earnt his first England call up. A definite for West Brom’s best player so far.

West Ham United, Alex Song

Although an argument could be made for any of Diafra Sakho, Enner Valencia, Stewart Downing and Winston Reid for their great form this season, Song is just as worthy. One of a crop of players propelling West Ham to the upper reaches of the table.
