Manchester United News And Rumour Roundup: £17m Loss Could Be Made On Midfielder, Falcao Injury Update And De Gea Set To Be Sold

Wednesday’s biggest stories for the Red Devils.

Juan Mata could be sold by Manchester United for just £20m

Despite costing £37.1m when he completed his transfer from Chelsea in January, the Spain international could be sold for almost half that in January, according to the Daily Express.

Both Atletico Madrid and Juventus are thought to be interested in Mata, who has struggled to establish himself in the starting XI since Louis van Gaal took charge as manager.

If the 26-year-old were sold it would see United losing £17.1m on the attacking midfielder in just a year.

Victor Valdes will be signed as a replacement for David de Gea and not a backup

After training with the club during his rehabilitation process it’s widely expected that Valdes will sign a permanent contract with the Red Devils in the near future.

However, the Independent reports that the 32-year-old will be a replacement for his fellow countryman de Gea and not a backup, with the latter heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old as they look for a long-term alternative for captain Iker Casillas.

Darijo Srna urges Croatian teammate Mateo Kovacic to leave Inter Milan

Man United are among four clubs on alert after Shakhtar Donetsk star Srna urges fellow Croatia international Kovacic to leave the San Siro to further his career.

The 20-year-old midfielder has also previously been targeted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Madrid and could well be available after being told to leave Inter.

“Mateo is one of the best young players in Serie A, but, if he wants to progress, he must go to another club. Inter are far from their glory days,” Srna was quoted by Goal.

Radamel Falcao faces late test to see if he is available to play the Gunners

It has been a tough start to life at Old Trafford for the Colombia international after completing a deadline day loan move from AS Monaco.

Falcao has scored just once for his new side having been struck down with injuries and the 28-year-old could well miss the next game for Louis van Gaal’s men as well.

The Times reports that the striker faces a very strong possibility of being out for the clash with the North Londoners on November 22.

Yet Falcao has also denied reports he has to pack his left knee with ice

The South American has however denied speculation that he has to pack his knee with ice every time he players a game or even trains.

It was said that Falcao’s problems caused by a cruciate ligament injury were having a lasting effect and a permanent move to the Theatre of Dreams had been scuppered as a result, but the forward has refuted those claims on Twitter.
