Here are the top six targets Tottenham should be looking to bring to the club in the New Year:

6) Klaas-Jan Huntelaar – Schalke 04

The Dutch international has long been a target of a number of Premier League clubs, and has regularly been linked with Spurs in recent months.

He has allegedly been stalling on a new contract with the Bundesliga side, and with his current deal only running until the end of the season he could be available at a knock down price in January.

At 31-years-old Huntelaar’s age means he is only likely to be a stop gap solution, but with Tottenham’s other options up front just not cutting it at the moment, the former Real Madrid star could give them the clinical finishing they are lacking at the moment.

5) Jay Rodriguez – Southampton

Rodriguez looked to be on the cusp of greatness earlier this year, scoring regularly for the Saints and even earning a call up to England.

A nasty cruciate ligament injury ruled him out for a lengthy period however, and he is only now getting close to a return to action.

The 25-year-old has worked under current Spurs boss Pochettino before, and could be seen as the perfect signing for the London club.

Even with his injury he was linked with a move this summer, and with his recovery coming to an end it has once again been suggested that he could be on the move. Will he want to leave St Mary’s though?

4) Wilfred Bony – Swansea City

The Ivory Coast international is apparently on the brink of signing a new deal at Swansea, but if concrete interest comes in from a bigger club he may hold fire on putting pen to paper.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham were linked with the player over the summer, but a move never materialised.

Since moving from Eredivisie in 2013 Bony has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League, something which the North Londoners could really do with at the moment.

3) Jackson Martinez – FC Porto

The Colombian striker is one of the most sought after strikers in football at the moment, with the Porto star in fine form for both club and country.

He has been linked with a move to the Lane this January, but with a transfer fee in excess of £25m will Tottenham be willing to splash the cash.

Martinez has also been a target for a number of other Premier League clubs, but with the forward untested in any of the bigger leagues he could prove to be too much of a gamble.

2) Mattia Destro – AS Roma

With Arsenal and Chelsea also reportedly interested Destro may be out of Spurs’ reach, but if they could bring him in he would be a fantastic signing for the club.

The Roma striker has an extremely impressive Serie A record, despite not being the first choice striker at the Italian capital club.

1) Saido Berahino – West Bromwich Albion

West Brom have recently dug their heels in and told both Liverpool and Tottenham to forget about signing Berahino, if the right offer comes in they surely couldn’t refuse though.

In fantastic form this season and having recently been called up to the England squad, the 21-year-old’s stock is certainly on the rise.

He recently revealed that he would leave West Brom if he could fulfil his dream of Champions League football, but the way things are going at the moment the North London outfit don’t look like being able to provide that any time soon.
