Manchester United’s seemingly never ending injury list has got longer today, with Daley Blind picking up a knee problem which is likely to keep him out for six weeks.

As a result, Louis van Gaal will have to rejig his lineup – and here’s how the Red Devils could line up in their next Premier League fixture with Arsenal – in a 4-3-1-2 formation.

GK) Anders Lindegaard

There were rumours that David de Gea would recover in time, but his finger problem picked up with Spain is now likely to keep him out for longer than expected – meaning the Danish understudy should get his chance.

DR) Antonio Valencia

Rafael is a doubt with a muscle problem, meaning Valencia could continue in an unnatural right-back role.

DC) Chris Smalling

Smalling is almost certain to start at centre-back, although it’s unsure yet who will partner him.

DC) Phil Jones

Jones is another doubt for the fixture, and if he isn’t 100%, Tyler Blackett or Paddy McNair could start instead.

DL) Luke Shaw

With Marcos Rojo crocked, Shaw will start at left-back.

MC) Marouane Fellaini

Fellaini is starting for United currently, due to the physicality and work-rate he provides the side. He should retain his place in the team as a result.

MRC) Ander Herrera

Herrera is fit and healthy again, and should be 100% fit in time for the Arsenal clash.

MLC) Angel Di Maria

The Argentine has been quiet in recent weeks, but has the ability to be a real match winner in any Premier League fixture.

AMC) Juan Mata

Mata deserves a start after coming off the bench last time out against Crystal Palace and scoring the game’s winner.

FC) Robin van Persie

With Falcao injured, the Dutch striker could start alongside Wayne Rooney up top.

FC) Wayne Rooney

The skipper is one of the first names on the team-sheet, and has scored plenty of goals against Arsenal before.
