The Galatasaray star has been unhappy with his current situation for some time now, with reports that the Turkish side have been failing to pay the players’ wages aggravating things further.

Sneijder has been heavily linked with the Red Devils for years now, and a move looked even more likely with United’s new boss Louis van Gaal known to be a huge fan of the 30-year-old playmaker.

It seems now that Sneijder is set to return to Serie A with AC Milan, the Italian side lining up a January loan bid for the wantaway star.

Milan will be losing Keisuke Honda for a month during the Asian cup, and see the Dutchman as a perfect replacement. It is thought to be a short term loan deal however, so where Sneijder ends up at the end of the season still remains a mystery.

The former Real Madrid man will join the list of players to controversially have played for both Inter Milan and AC Milan, returning to the San Siro once again.
