Younes Kaboul (Tottenham Hotspur)

Kaboul was made club captain at Spurs following the summer sale of Michael Dawson to Hull. As a result, he started Tottenham’s first 11 league games of the season, keeping his place in the team despite a number of horrendous displays. He missed Sunday’s 2-1 win over Hull with a mystery illness, forcing Mauricio Pochettino to bring in Jan Vertonghen – much to the delight of the fans.

Nacho Monreal (Arsenal)

The uncapped Spaniard has featured in nine Premier League games, mainly at centre-back due to Arsenal’s injury crisis in defence. To be fair to him, he has done a fairly reasonable job. However, Arsene Wenger should have done more in the summer transfer window so that he was not forced to play squad players out of position to fill vital slots in his first XI.

Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)

Lovren has started all 12 league games for the Reds since signing from Southampton for £20m. His performances have been so bad that Liverpool fans are calling for Kolo Toure to start in his place!

Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)

Having spent £16m on him, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers seems to be determined to pick Balotelli, despite his dreadful form – no goals in nine league games. Fortunately, Balo was injured on Sunday, meaning Rickie Lambert got a chance, which he took by scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Etienne Capoue (Tottenham Hotspur)

On paper, Spurs have some excellent central midfielders in their squad, including Paulinho and Mousa Dembele. However, those two players have started just three Premier League games between them, while Capoue has made 11 starts. Go figure…

Emmanuel Adebayor (Tottenham Hotspur)

Harry Kane had to score 10 goals in all competitions this season before Pochettino finally ditched Emmanuel Adebayor to give the Englishman his first start in the Prem. The frustratingly-lazy former Arsenal forward has netted just twice in 12 games this term and he even dared to hint that Tottenham fans were to blame for the team’s poor form.
