By combining the best of their current stars with recent departures the British newspaper has put together a starting XI which has been valued at a staggering £250m.
Check it out below:
GK – Fraser Forster
Signed from Celtic over the summer for £10m the goalkeeper has been in good form for the South Coast club as they continue to give a good account of themselves at the back.
RB – Nathaniel Clyne
With Glen Johnson struggling for form and Kyle Walker short on fitness this 23-year-old has broken through as the first choice right-back for the England national team.
CB – Calum Chambers
Came through the ranks at St Mary’s as a full-back, but since making the £16m transfer to Arsenal over the summer it’s clear the 19-year-old is a better central defender.
CB – Dejan Lovren
Was considered the reason behind the Hampshire side’s sturdy back line in 2013/14, but since making the £20m switch to Liverpool the Croatia international has looked more of a liability.
LB – Luke Shaw
It was something of an exodus this summer – which makes Ronald Koeman’s achievements so far even more impressive – and this 19-year-old became the most expensive teenager in British transfer history upon joining Manchester United for £27m.
CM – Adam Lallana
Also came through the ranks for the Saints and was their captain last term before the Reds swooped in and signed the midfielder for £25m – although Lallana is yet to truly justify that fee.
CM – Morgan Schneiderlin
Was heavily linked with a move away in the last window, but Koeman convinced the France international to stay and Schneiderlin has been instrumental in their success since.
CM – James Ward-Prowse
The latest academy player expected to achieve great things and the teenager is already an established part of the first team despite his relatively young age.
RW- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Moved to the Gunners as a teenager for £15m and has since become a stalwart for club and country – so much so in fact it’s easy to forget Oxlade-Chamberlain has only recently turned 21-years-old.
ST – Theo Walcott
The England international has always claimed he is a striker and in this XI he is, with Walcott moving to the Emirates Stadium way back in 2006 as a raw talent for £12.5m.
LW – Gareth Bale
Finishing off the team is a former academy player who left for Tottenham Hotspur and then became the most expensive player of all time in 2013 when Real Madrid were moved to pay a whopping £85.3m for Bale’s services.
