The Frenchman, who is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 228 goals in two spells, failed to help Arsenal win the trophy during his time there as a player, but hopes he can do so in a future role on the coaching staff.

The 37-year-old is nearing the end of his playing career, with speculation that he could be retiring when he leaves MLS side New York Red Bulls this winter.

Although Henry has not confirmed whether or not he will be ending his playing career just yet, he insists he wants to remain in football in some capacity when he does hang up his boots.

Arsenal are his preferred destination, as he described the north Londoners as ‘my club’ and because he feels he has unfinished business at the Emirates Stadium as he could not enjoy Champions League success when he played for them earlier in his career.

“Nothing is clear. I have made no decision and speculating isn’t my thing. One thing is clear: I will stay in football, either to manage, be a consultant or an executive,” he said.

“A second thing is clear: I would like to see Arsenal win the Champions League. After, whether now or in the future, it’s not my decision, but I would like to help.

“Because they are my club and because I didn’t manage to give they them Champions League as a player.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has previously backed Henry to make it in management.
