Liverpool could look to raid their bitter rivals Manchester United for the signing of Javier Hernandez next summer as his future remains in the balance, according to the Daily Express.

The Reds are known to be in the market for a new striker at the moment, with the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona in pre-season and an injury sustained by Daniel Sturridge proving problematic for them so far this term.

Still, a move for Hernandez would be highly controversial as United and Liverpool are not known for selling to each other due to a long-standing rivalry between the two clubs, one of the biggest in English football.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are also among those interested in the Mexican international, who is currently on a season-long loan at Real Madrid, though a permanent move to the Bernabeu looks unlikely.

Hernandez has not really featured regularly since moving to the Spanish giants, whilst also finding himself frustrated in his last few years at Old Trafford as he has failed to cement a regular starting spot for the Red Devils.

The 26-year-old could now be on the move to one of United’s rivals, possibly following Danny Welbeck in a surprise move to the Emirates Stadium.
