Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a move for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris if David de Gea leaves the club to join Real Madrid, according to the Daily Star.

The French shot-stopper has established himself as one of Tottenham’s best players in recent times, though he looked to have snubbed offers from bigger clubs by signing a new contract at White Hart Lane this summer.

Still, United face a possible crisis in goal as their own impressive number one continues to attract strong interest from Spain, with de Gea strongly linked with a return to La Liga.

De Gea started his career with Atletico Madrid but could be tempted to return and play for their local rivals Real if they do come calling, with Iker Casillas out of form and likely to be replaced by a big name.

This would no doubt be a major blow for the Red Devils, but Lloris has shown that he could be the ideal replacement for de Gea at Old Trafford with some fantastic performances since his move to Spurs from Lyon in 2012.

The 27-year-old would likely cost around £25m, but United have not been afraid to splash the cash under Louis van Gaal.
