The classy Argentine has been in superb form in Serie A this season, attracting strong interest from Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Arsenal as they also look to improve their options upfront.

It is claimed that Dybala, 21, is close to completing a £31m move to the Emirates Stadium, but Liverpool hope to hijack the deal as Reds boss Rodgers seeks to bring in a replacement for the misfiring Mario Balotelli.

The Italian international has been desperately poor for the Merseyside giants since his £16m summer move from AC Milan, and may be shipped out to help fund a bid for Dybala.

Having drawn comparisons with Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, it is no surprise to see the Palermo youngster attract so much attention from top English clubs.
