Manchester United Plan Squad Overhaul With Six-Player Clearout Plus One Unwanted Sale

Van Gaal to continue to ring the changes.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could be set to lose seven first-teamers in next summer’s transfer window, with six of those set to be cleared out by the Red Devils boss, but with one departure possibly set to happen against the club’s will.

Van Gaal has already made a number of major changes to the squad at Old Trafford since arriving at the club in the summer, letting some big names leave whilst spending vast amounts on marquee signings such as Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Radamel Falcao.

United look set to continue this squad overhaul next summer, with van Gaal already planning for at least six player exits, while one big name is attracting a lot of interest and may end up leaving.

Read on to see who looks to be heading for the Old Trafford exit door:

1) Javier Hernandez

Currently on loan at Real Madrid, Javier Hernandez was allowed to leave on a temporary basis this season but still looks unlikely to be part of van Gaal’s plans next year.

2) Nani

Another player out on loan at the moment, Nani’s fine form with Sporting Lisbon doesn’t look to have seen him work his way into the United first-team picture for next season.

3) Wilfried Zaha

A highly disappointing signing, Wilfried Zaha looks highly unlikely to make the cut at Old Trafford and is another who could see his loan move out of the club lead to a permanent exit.

4) Tom Cleverley

Yet another player shipped out on loan this season, midfielder Tom Cleverley also seems a strong candidate for the exit door after years of below-par performances for the Red Devils.

5) Anders Lindegaard

Possibly now third choice goalkeeper and maybe even set to slip even further down the pecking order, Anders Lindegaard is not wanted by United and is likely to be shown the door.

6) Anderson

Despite rumours that Anderson could leave as early as January, United are in no rush to get rid of the Brazilian and hope to sell him next summer instead of paying off his contract.

7) David de Gea

Finally, a potential unwanted departure is that of star player David de Gea, who is a top target for Real Madrid and who is yet to commit to a new contract. Victor Valdes is being considered by the club on a free transfer and may be brought in as a replacement for his fellow Spaniard, though this departure would no doubt be a big blow.
