The Portuguese coach is looking at Argentine striker Mauro Icardi, who has impressed this season with eight goals and one assist in all competitions, and establishing himself as one of the best young players in Serie A.

Still it is thought that Inter would be ready to accept offers in the region of £14m to let him go, with new manager Roberto Mancini planning to make some changes to the squad at the San Siro since taking over from the struggling Walter Mazzarri.

Chelsea already have Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba to choose from upfront, but with the latter possibly only at Stamford Bridge on a one-year deal, Icardi could be an ideal long-term replacement for the Ivorian in attack.

Icardi has also been linked with other top clubs in recent times after catching the eye in Italy this term.
