The Arsenal manager has come in for a fair amount of criticism this season and his return of just one FA Cup success in nine seasons could well mean that the veteran French manager could be edging towards the end of his tenure at the north London side.

With that in mind, here are five realistic options the club’s board could consider if Wenger did indeed jump ship, or is pushed.

Roberto Martinez (Everton)

Everton manager has done a good job wherever he’s pitched up and doesn’t require a massive budget to get the most out of the transfer market.

The Spaniard has a good Premier League record and likes his sides to play football the ‘right’ way.

Paul Clement (Real Madrid assistant coach)

The Real Madrid coach is considered a very hot managerial prospect who may well be ready to make the move up to taking the helm at a big club.

The 42 year old been learning the ropes at Chelsea, PSG and now at the Bernabeu and may be the ideal man to start a fresh chapter at the north London outfit.

Rudi Garcia (AS Roma)

The Frenchman made a name for himself at Lille where he helped the side to their first Ligue 1 title in over 50 years and has been a big success at the Stadio Olimpico, making AS Roma arguably the only contenders to Juventus’s Serie A crown.

The 50 year old has a good grounding of top level experience and is known for encouraging his sides to play attractive football.

Jurgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund)

Borussia Dortmund boss has long been linked with moves to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and the timing for such a switch has perhaps never been more ideal.

The eccentric German helped his Westfalenstadion side to back to back Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final but has seen his side sell off their best talents and now Borussia Dortmund find themselves way down the table.

The 47 year old may feel his ambitions can not be attained at a Dortmund side who are likely to lose further star performers and a move to manage the Gunners would surely tempt Klopp at this juncture.

Ronald Koeman (Southampton)

The Dutchman has made an outstanding start to his Premier League career, guiding a Southampton side who had lost their top talents over the summer toward the very top of the table.

Perhaps if Arsenal were to come calling at the end of the season the 51 year old would be unable to resist the challenge.

Koeman won three Eredivisie titles though did struggle in Spain and Portugal but has the pulling power to perhaps take the mantle in a post Wenger era, perhaps with Dennis Bergkamp as an assistant?
