Spurs have been linked with a number of players in the New Year and here is a shortlist of their targets.

Raul Albiol, Napoli

There remains concerns at the back for Pochettino with Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen and new signing Federico Fazio all failing to impress, whilst Vlad Chiriches is out of favour under the Argentine.

That has drawn the North London side to Albiol, with DeAndre Yedlin also arriving at White Hart Lane after his loan spell with Seattle Sounders.

Andrej Kramaric, HNK Rijeka

With 28 goals in 22 games for club and country already this season there is much interest – particularly from England – in the Croatia international.

Leicester City are said to have made a £7m bid which was rejected by Rijeka, but the lure of either Tottenham or other interested party Chelsea could be too good to resist.

Jay Rodriguez, Southampton

Attacking options are also limited for Pochettino, with youngster Harry Kane the only one showing any decent form as Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado continue to struggle.

Although Rodriguez is not an out-and-out striker the England international does have an eye for goal – but hasn’t played for almost a year after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Southampton

Another of Pochettino’s former Saints players now and a midfielder who has been making a great impression once more in the Premier League with the Hampshire club.

Schneiderlin is considered to have played a key part in the success of Ronaldo Koeman’s side and is open to a move away from St Mary’s.

Virgil van Dijk, Celtic

Finally another player who could help address the issues at the back for Pochettino, with van Dijk attracting much interest with his performances for the Scottish champions.

The 23-year-old is also being touted by North London rivals Arsenal and Manchester City and is valued at around £10m.
