Liverpool Boss Wants to Sign Premier League Quartet in January Sales: Report

Brendan Rodgers Liverpool

Anfield boss eyes up Tottenham, Southampton, West Brom and West Ham stars as he seeks to strengthen his squad in January.

Winston Reid (West Ham)

The Kiwi has been in superb form this season but is out of contract next summer and may well be looking to secure a ‘high-profile’ transfer.

Brendan Rodgers is known to court the West Ham star and his back-line could certainly do with improving with summer signing Dejan Lovren proving a huge disappointment thus far.

Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham)

Belgian is hotly tipped to leave White Hart Lane and is another Liverpool target and the versatile defender’s ability to fill both left-back and centre-back roles could see him leapfrog Winston Reid on the Anfield side’s wish-list.

The former Ajax man is a quality player on his day but has been woefully inconsistent over the past 18 months and Mauricio Pochettino is apparently ready to sell.

Saido Berahino (West Brom)

The England Under 21 international is apparently seen by Rodgers as a potential replacement for Mario Balotelli, with the Italian already tipped to leave Anfield, though a move for the Baggies starlet will not come cheap.

Alan Irvine’s side will demand £25m for the forward and his form this term suggests that such an outlay be a fair reflection of his potential.

Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton)

Brendan Rodgers has of course conducted multiple St Mary’s raids but by all accounts another is on the cards with Liverpool seeing the in-form England international as an ideal replacement for Glen Johnson.

The right-back has shone at the south-coast side over the season and a half and despite Ronald Koeman’s side impressing one imagines a move to Liverpool could still tempt the former Crystal Palace full-back.
