Atletico Madrid are reportedly keeping an eye on two big-name Arsenal and Chelsea forwards this January as they ponder some moves to strengthen their attack.

Sources in Spain suggest that manager Diego Simeone has three main targets, with the Argentine keen to ease the burden on star striker Mario Mandzukic to score his side’s goals this season.
Having lost a number of their star players in the summer, Atletico look to have more money to spend this winter as they look to improve their slim hopes of retaining their title in La Liga this season.
According to Spanish-based journalist Zarif Rasul, these are Atletico’s three main January targets:
1) Lukas Podolski (Arsenal)
Out of favour at Arsenal this season, Lukas Podolski has been linked several times with an exit from the Emirates Stadium this January and is now seemingly on Atletico’s shortlist of realistic targets upfront. There’s no doubt the experienced German international could be a useful addition to Simeone’s squad.
2) Fernando Torres (Chelsea)
Currently on loan at AC Milan, it is thought that Atletico could try a surprise attempt to re-sign their former star striker Fernando Torres from Chelsea this winter. The Spaniard has been poor at the San Siro and may welcome the chance to return to the club where he started his career.
3) Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich)
Finally, it is claimed that Atletico are keen to snap up Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri, who is another player currently struggling for regular first-team action and form, despite previously being regarded as a top class young talent. A move to Atletico could be just what the Swiss international needs to revive his career.
