CaughtOffside ranks the twenty most disappointing players this season – one from each Premier League club. Do you agree with our choices:

20) Nathaniel Chalobah (Burnley)

The Chelsea loanee has not had the desired impact and needs to start proving why he’s been tipped as a star of the future.

19) Wes Morgan (Leicester City)

The experienced centre-back has struggled to keep pace with the Premier League, emphasised by a recent red card against Liverpool.

18) Yoan Gouffran (Newcastle United)

The French forward has yet to score this season, and needs to help take the pressure off Newcastle’s already limited goalscoring options.

17) Bafetimbi Gomis (Swansea City)

The French striker is beginning to grown into his role at Swansea, but has yet to seriously challenge Wilfried Bony
for a place in the team.

16) Maya Yoshida (Southampton)

Southampton lost three defenders in the summer, and needed the Japanese international to step up to the plate this season. The jury remains out.

15) Steven Pienaar (Everton)

The South African midfielder has not been the same since his unsuccessful spell at Tottenham, and is now only a fringe player.

14) Jack Butland (Stoke City)

Expected to be challenging Joe Hart for the England number one spot, but is struggling to force his way into the Stoke squad, let alone the team.

13)Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

The Manchester United loanee has failed to look like an England international this season, despite being back with his former club.

12) Rio Ferdinand (Queens Park Rangers)

The experienced ex-Manchester United defender has struggled to live up to his reputation at QPR this season, and needs to do more.

11) Chris Brunt (West Bromwich Albion)

The West Brom captain has attracted plenty of criticism from his club’s fans, with his teammates even forced to speak out in his defence.

10) Ravel Morrison (West Ham United)

The former Manchester Untied youth team prospect was expected to become a first team regular at Upton Park, but has instead been farmed out on loan.

9) Jozy Altidore (Sunderland)

Sunderland’s desperate lack of goals has not been helped by the continuing goal drought of their American target man, who has really struggled.

8) Charles N’Zogbia (Aston Villa)

The Frenchman once looked like one of the most exciting midfielders in the Premier League, now he rarely manages to make any sort of impact.

7) Paulinho (Tottenham Hotspur)

A number of Tottenham players could be included here, but the Brazilian gets the nod after an incredibly indifferent start to the season.

6) Hatem Ben Arfa (Hull City)

He may have ended up an outcast at Newcastle, but there was a time when he was their key player. Now on loan at Hull, and he still hasn’t recovered his best form.

5) Mohamed Salah (Chelsea)

The Egyptian winger came to Chelsea in January with a big reputation, but he has rarely forced his way into the first-team picture and looks likely to leave.

4) Eliaquim Mangala (Manchester City)

City’s big money signing this summer. He has struggled to impress, and has arguably only been playing due to Vincent Kompany’s injury issues.

3) Radamel Falcao (Manchester United)

The Colombian striker has been a massive flop at Old Trafford thus far, with just one goal. His playing time has also been limited by injury problems.

2) Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)

The German midfielder needed to build on an indifferent last season, and has done anything but, with his poor form ending in an injury.

1) Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)

Liverpool’s answer to replacing Luis Suarez. The £16m Italian was a controversial chance, and the gamble has failed to pay off thus far.
