Nichols was named in Ange Postecoglou’s preliminary squad for the Asian Cup, but the Glory have confirmed the 25-year-old will be unavailable for selection for 6-8 weeks.

After a solid start to the season, Nichols says he is disappointed to be hit by injury.

“It’s frustrating to say the least and I really wanted to be part of the FFA Cup final and help the boys out. However the medical team has assured me I should be back on my feet soon after the January break” Nichols said.

“I wish the boys the best of luck against the Mariners this Saturday and hope we can get a bumper crowd at nib Stadium and another three points to extend our lead at the top of the league.”
