Arsenal player ratings against Liverpool:

GK) Wojciech Szczesny – 6.5

Couldn’t do much for either goal, and was solid and commanding in the air.

RB) Calum Chambers – 5.5

Struggled all evening with Raheem Sterling and  Lazar Markovic, looked out of his depth at times.

CB) Mathieu Debuchy – 7.0

Another excellent performance at centre-back from the Frenchman, who was expected to move back to right-back. Capped the performance with a goal.

CB) Per Mertesacker – 5.5

Needed to be more of a leader at the back in the first half when the team were struggling, really wasn’t at his best.

LB) Kieran Gibbs – 6.5

A solid performance at left-back, needed to be disciplined as Liverpool were causing all sorts of problems down the flanks.

DM) Mathieu Flamini – 5.5

A woeful first half performance from the experienced midfielder, although he did provide the assist for the first goal. Improved drastically in the second half.

CM) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5.5

Looked to still be struggling with his groin problem, was clear he wasn’t at his best.

CAM) Santi Cazorla – 7.0

Pulling the strings from midfield, grabbed the assist for Arsenal’s second.

RAM) Alexis Sanchez – 5.0

Possibly his worst game in an Arsenal shirt, things just weren’t going right for the Chilean. Even when he’s not at his best however, he still works tirelessly.

LAM) Danny Welbeck – 5.5

A distinctly average performance from the former Manchester United star, with nothing really sticking to him in the first half.

ST) Olivier Giroud – 7.0

The most effective of Arsenal’s three pronged attack in both halves, grabbed himself a goal that looked like it could have been the winner.

Substitute) Francis Coquelin – 7.0

Played excellently after replacing Giroud, but the withdrawal of the striker did alter the dynamic of the game.

Substitute) Joel Campbell – N/A

Barely had any impact on the game following his introduction.

Substitute) Nacho Monreal – N/A

A Cameo performance.
