5) Jackson Martinez (Porto)

Available for around £30m, Porto striker Jackson Martinez has been in lethal form of late and is also attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, looking far better value for money than the overpriced Cavani.

4) Pedro (Barcelona)

Not strictly a striker, but Pedro’s goals from out wide could make him a worthwhile signing for around £26m, particularly with Theo Walcott seriously injury prone and far from his best.

3) Paulo Dybala (Palermo)

Available for around £30-35m, Palermo wonderkid Paulo Dybala, 21, looks a sensational talent and would be a better investment than Cavani, who is already 27 and who has struggled at PSG.

2) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Supposedly a player Real Madrid could sell for around £45m, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is a class above Cavani and still available for cheaper, though Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in the prolific Frenchman.

1) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

With a £20m release clause set to become effective in the summer, Marco Reus will no doubt be one of the bargains of the century and can do a job upfront or in a variety of attacking midfield positions. A must-buy for Arsenal, though a host of other top clubs are also interested.
