Liverpool Draw Up Eight Man January Wish-List: £50m Real Madrid Striker & Saints Full-Back Among Host of Targets

Anfield side look to invest in next month’s transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers has seen his side fail to come close to their successes of last term and by all accounts the Liverpool boss will be provided funds to bring in new additions in January.

The Anfield side’s owners are no doubt keen to retain their foothold in the Champions League and appear ready to offer Rodgers the sums needed to help improve his Liverpool squad.

The Daily Express has drawn up a list of eight players said to be on Rodgers’ wish-list.

Victor Valdes (Free agent)

With issues concerning the form of first-choice custodian Simon Mignolet it’s no surprise that a new keeper would be high up on Brendan Rodgers’ shopping list.

Free agent Valdes has been training with Man United but is still seemingly a Liverpool target and a very able performer who could be a sensible cost effective signing.

Guillermo Ochoa (Malaga)

La Liga keeper is apparently available for around £3m and his World Cup performances for Mexico suggest that the 29 year old could certainly do a good job at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk (Celtic)

Summer signing Dejan Lovren has looked shocking when called upon and a new central defensive addition wouldn’t go amiss given that Mamadou Sakho’s displays have been patchy and Kolo Toure isn’t getting any younger. Dutchman van Dijk has impressed in Glasgow.

Martin Montoya (Barcelona)

Nou Camp right-back has long been linked with a move to Anfield and could be seen as a replacement for soon to be out of contract England international Glen Johnson.

Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton)

Saints star has been in superb form over the past 18 months, leading to an England call-up, and could well be tempted by a high-profile move though may elect to wait out the season to see if his south-coast side can retain their push for a top four finish.

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

With Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli both failing to impress there is very good reason to target another striker signing and in-form French forward Lacazette could be the cheapest of the three attacking targets named by this source. The 23 year old is currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 having netted 17 goals in 19 appearances.

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

This source claims that Liverpool will launch a £50m bid for Benzema but even an offer of this magnitude would surely fail, after all why would the former Lyon man choose to leave a Real Madrid side who have won 22 games on the trot and why would Carlo Ancelotti sell such a key performer?

Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow)

The last of those named by the Daily Express and a cheaper option at £20m than the aforementioned Benzema.
