The Spurs forward has been in blistering form since the start of the season, scoring 16 goals for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The 21 year old says he has been dreaming of an England call-up since he was a child, but believes he needs to maintain his incredible goal scoring record this season if he is to impress Roy Hodgson.

“It’s something I’ve dreamt about since I was a kid but there’s still two months until the next England squad is announced,” Kane told Sky Sports.

“I’ve got to keep scoring goals because the boss has said he’ll pick players on form and who’s doing well. There’s still two months left and I’ve got to continue to do well if that’s where I want to get to.”

Hodgson has said he’s been impressed by the Spurs youngster and that Kane had come on “leaps and bounds” and is one player he is definitely watching ahead of England’s next round of internationals against Lithuania and Italy.

“To have the England senior manager talking to you in that light and saying things like that about you is something that can only help me,” added Kane.

“Hopefully I can continue what I’ve been doing and get a call up. I know if I’m playing well and if I’m have a shout but I know I’ve got to continue playing well to have any chance because the England senior squad is the top of the top and what every English footballer dreams of.

“I’ve got to keep focused, keep my feet on the ground and continue doing what I’m doing for Tottenham.”
