How Man United will take on the Saints.
Manchester United will look for an improvement on the performance from the last time these two sides met. Louis Van Gaal’s men came away with all three points, but were second best in the performance stakes, and the Dutchman will be hoping his men can come up with a more complete output this time around.
GK: David de Gea
The young Spaniard will have to be on top of his game all the time now with Victor Valdes breathing down his neck.
RB: Rafael
Rafael will need to display more consistency if he wants to keep his place.
CB: Phil Jones
The England international has been United’s stand out defender…hen he’s been fit.
CB: Chris Smalling
Van Gaal has favoured Smalling as the ideal man to partner Jones as Marcos Rojo continues to struggle to adapt.
LB: Luke Shaw
Now recovered from a minor hamstring complaint, he will replace the injured Ashley Young at left-back.
DM: Michael Carrick
The veteran star will keep his place ahead of Daley Blind.
RM: Juan Mata
Mata will be moved on to the right to accommodate others, but it is a position he has not enjoyed in the past.
LM: Angel Di Maria
Now fully recovered, the Argentine will retake his place on the left wing.
AM: Wayne Rooney
By far United’s best player so far this season, he will be looked upon to create something magic as well as score.
ST: Radamel Falcao
Continuing his recent run of starts, the Colombian will need to start justifying his price tag.
ST: Robin Van Persie
RVP has been subdued by his own standards this season. A good return in front of goal could liven him up again.
