The 26-year-old has been in good form since moving to the German top flight, having disappointed in a loan spell with Blackburn earlier in his career.

Still, both Swansea and West Ham are now thought to be on alert for his potential availability this winter as he can supposedly move for just £5m, which looks a bargain for a player of his quality.

The Swans and the Hammers both look in need of more options upfront, particularly with Garry Monk’s side possibly set to sell star player Wilfried Bony to Manchester City this month as talks continue.

Modeste could be an ideal replacement for the Ivory Coast frontman, but Hull City and Crystal Palace have also been mentioned as interested in the player.
