Bild have published quotes from the Dutch attacker in which he says he was bitten when retrieving a ball that had fallen in a lake near the ground where they were playing.
Robben’s hand is badly bruised around the thumb, middle and ring finger and he must now wear a brace to protect himself from further harm.
The former Real Madrid man can continue to train with Bayern but told Bild of the incident: “When I got a ball from the hole at pool, a crocodile has bitten me!”
Rumours have begun to emerge that the star forward actually suffered the injury during a weights session but we prefer this explanation.
Robben is of course well known for his propensity to over-react to a challenge and as such this incident is fairly amusing.
Bayern meanwhile continue to train in the Middle East country as the Bundesliga’s winter break comes to an end.
