The 27 year old has been linked with a move to Liverpool this month, but has seemingly rubbished the idea of a transfer:

“I am happy here. I have a contract here,” the striker was quoted by the Guardian.

The Argentina international has 10 goals in 19 league appearances for the Italian side this season and Brendan Rodgers had been keen on acquiring his services given the injury to Daniel Sturridge and the goal-shy Mario Balotelli.

Higuain moved to Napoli in 2013 from Real Madrid, signing a five-year contract with the club – and it seems Rodgers will again have to set his sights elsewhere with the former Madrid star happy with his current deal and to continue his playing career in Naples.

However, with Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert both scoring in the 2-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Saturday, the Northern Irishman may think the need for a new forward is no longer so prevalent.
