This is despite the forward being widely criticised for his behaviour during the Blues’ 1-0 (aet) Capital One Cup semi final victory over Liverpool . The 26-year-old was pictured stamping on Emre Can and Martin Skrtel during the match as well as acting aggressively towards Steven Gerrard at one point.

Asked whether Costa motivates the Blues, Hazard responded: “Yes, yes, yes. When you play with this guy, you have to give everything. You can see in every action and for every ball, he gives his life. Even if he didn’t score against Liverpool, he gave his life.”

He added, “For us, for the players, when you play with him, it’s very good. In training he is a little different but in the game he is very good. He never stops. He had a very good mentality against Liverpool. We need him because he can score every minute, every second. He did very well.”

With the Spaniard in danger of being retrospectively banned for the incidents, he could now miss the potentially title deciding clash against Manchester City on Saturday. The striker would be a big miss for the Stamford Bridge outfit, with him being their top scorer so far with 17 goals. If they are without Costa then either Didier Drogba or Loic Remy could potentially take his place in the starting XI.
